Our insurance law expertise covers in particular corporate related advice of insurance companies in matters of supervisory law, corporate law and taxation law as well as in product and distribution specific issues. In addition we provide contract related consultancy and legal representation as well as ongoing support for companies in product liability issues.
Central areas of our practice include the following fields:
- advice on share and asset deals (transfer of portfolios)
- corporate law including group and transformation law as well as related taxation and accounting law questions in the insurance sector
- insurance supervisory law: advice on the formation and running of direct insurance and reinsurance companies including authorization, capitalization, regulatory measures and coordination with the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin)
- drafting and revision of insurance conditions, particularly in the field of life insurance
- labor and distribution law (insurance agents, commercial agents, employees) including the relevant EU and national supervisory law
- insurance law due diligence in connection with corporate transactions
- consultancy in the structuring of occupational retirement provision, e.g. relief funds, CTA models, pension funds
